RED VELVET CAKE


RED VELVET CAKE Recipe:
Ingredients:
1 cup granulated sugar 
1/2 cup shortening 
2 eggs
4 tbsp red food color 
2 tbsp cocoa powder
1 cup buttermilk 
1 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla extract 
2 1/2 cups all purpose flour 
1 tbsp white vinegar
1 1/2 tsp baking soda 

PROCEDURE: 

  Beat together sugar and shortening in a large until light and fluffy 

  Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition 

Combine red food colour and cocoa powder to make a paste, add to the creamed mixture 

 Mix buttermilk, salt and vanilla in a separate bowl

  Add flour, alternating with buttermilk mixture, mixing just until incorporated 

  Mix Vinegar and baking soda together and gently fold into the cake batter

  Pour the batter into your already greased or lined pans

  Bake in preheated oven until a skewer inserted into the center comes out clean at about 30 minutes 

  Allow to cool before taking them out of the pan to a wire rack to cool completely
